Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s chief executive officer, was recently quoted as saying “The true scarce commodity” of the near future, will be “human attention.”  Nadella’s comment was in response to a Microsoft survey of Canadian media consumption concluding that the average person’s attention span is now just eight seconds. The study found humans now have a shorter attention span than goldfish.

Couple this with the ever-increasing explosion of data coming at us every day, and, as Daniel Levitin, author of The Organized Mind: Thinking Straight in the Age of Information Overload, says: “It’s no wonder that the world is filled with so much misunderstanding. With such attentional restrictions, it’s clear why many of us feel overwhelmed by managing some of the most basic aspects of life.”
